Biography

I am an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), where I also serve as Vice Chair for Professional Programs, Director of the Master of Computer Science (MCS) program, and Director of the Computer Science Capstone Program. I have also held leadership roles in the Academic Senate. With more than fifteen years of academic and professional experience in Europe and the United States, my work centers on designing and implementing innovative, user-focused solutions in information systems and the Internet of Things (IoT), often with applications in health, sustainability, and education.

In the classroom and through mentoring, I am deeply committed to student learning and success. I teach undergraduate and graduate courses that emphasize project-based and active learning, integrating real-world applications with foundational computer science concepts. I regularly mentor students at all levels, including high school researchers, undergraduate students, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral fellows, helping them refine their skills, pursue competitive opportunities, and launch impactful careers. My teaching and mentoring philosophy is grounded in creating inclusive and engaging learning environments that foster confidence, critical thinking, and long-term professional growth.
