Biography
Since 2018, I have served as an Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). Boasting 15 years of academic and field experience across Europe and the US, I started my journey at UCI in 2012 as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2). During that period, I worked on implementing and testing novel user-centric solutions based on information systems and the Internet of Things (IoT).
I teach both undergraduate and graduate courses. My primary focus is on embedded systems/IoT, search systems, and industry capstone projects. I have developed new teaching methods and tools to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion. I designed and implemented COMPSCI 180AB and ICS 9, two major undergraduate courses. In addition to teaching, I actively collaborate on high-impact research projects in health, sustainability, and education.
I am proud to say that I have been actively involved in various education-related organizations and professional societies. I am committed to enhancing the student experience and promoting diversity. Within the university, I have been entrusted with critical positions such as Chair of the UCI Council of Enrollment Management and Admissions (CEMA) and Vice-Chair of the Council on Learning, Teaching, and Student Experience (CLTSE).
